Who Is Anthony DeFontes

 Anthony is a Sagittarius and was born on December 9^th in Brooklyn N.Y. He attended St. Ephrem’s G.S. and St. Augustine H.S, both in Brooklyn. He has an Associates Degree in Textile Design from Fashion Institute of Technology, N.Y. and is a Certified Computer & Network Technician. He ended up as a hair color specialist working in high end salons throughout New York and the Ft. Lauderdale area. He also traveled extensively doing platform work for major hair product companies. He is presently a financial planner in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Anthony’s interests are music, computers, working with children as the Youth Choir Director for First Christian Church of Pompano Beach, playing with his Schnoodle puppy “Corbin”, landscaping with his wife Marilena and getting together with his family and grandchildren Caleb and Joshua.

 Anthony’s first encounter with music was playing accordion at 6 years old until 14 years old when “The Beatles “influenced him to pick up bass guitar. He played with various bands, and in 1969, recorded an album under Capitol records with a band called “Koala”.

 Singing was always his forte and Doo Wop was always a favorite with Anthony.. He had sung with many local groups on the street corners of Brooklyn and in the same neighborhood that “The Mystics” was formed in. So, in 1978, after moving to Florida, he answered an ad that eventually brought him to singing 2^nd tenor and leads with “Reunion”, one of Florida’s premier Doo Wop show bands, for 18 years. It was then that he met Joe Neary who was 1^st tenor with “Reunion” at that time.

 In 1989 Anthony was invited to tour with Dion DiMucci. He performed with Dion at venues such as Madison Square Garden N.Y., Radio City Music Hall N.Y., Westbury Music Fair L.I., and Universal Amphitheatre in California, as well as appearing with him on a televised New Year’s Eve special “Rockin’ the Night Away”. (also on DVD).  He can also be heard doing backup vocals on Dion’s album “Deja Nu”.

 After being introduced to George Galfo by Joe Neary, Anthony was invited to join “The Mystics” as their newest member. He is excited about performing with “George Galfo’s Mystics” and looks forward to keeping the Doo Wop sound alive.
